About & beliefs

A church family built on the Word of God.

Since 1953, Tomah Baptist Church has been a place where families learn to apply God's Word to daily life and share the love of God revealed through Jesus Christ.

"For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."1 Corinthians 3:11
Pastor Aaron Smith

Our pastor

Pastor Aaron Smith

Pastor Smith leads Tomah Baptist Church with a heart for families, for preaching the Bible clearly, and for helping people take their next step with God. He also gives leadership to Victory Christian School, a ministry of the church.

He'd be glad to meet you over coffee, answer your questions about the Bible, or simply pray with you.

What we believe

The heart of our faith

Tomah Baptist Church is an independent, fundamental Baptist church. These are the core convictions that shape everything we do.

The Bible

The Bible is the inspired, preserved Word of God, without error, and our final authority for faith and life. We use the King James Version.

2 Timothy 3:16–17

God

There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19

Jesus Christ

Jesus is God the Son, born of a virgin, who lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, and is coming again.

1 Corinthians 15:3–4

Salvation

Salvation is a free gift of God's grace, received by faith in Jesus Christ alone, and not by our own works. Every believer is eternally secure in Christ.

Ephesians 2:8–9

Baptism & the Lord's Supper

Believers are baptized by immersion as a public testimony of faith. The Lord's Supper is observed in remembrance of Christ's death.

Romans 6:3–5

The local church

The local church is an independent, self-governing body of baptized believers, called to worship, fellowship, and carry the gospel to every creature.

Mark 16:15

Our story

Serving Tomah for more than 70 years

Tomah Baptist Church began in the early 1950s and dedicated its building at 1701 Hollister Ave in 1991. The building has changed over the years, but the mission hasn't: preach the gospel, love people, and reach the next generation.
