Next steps

Wherever you are with God, there's a next step.

Maybe you have questions about faith. Maybe you're ready to be baptized or make Tomah Baptist your church home. Pick the step that fits, and we'll walk it with you.

Step one

You can know for sure

The Bible says salvation isn't something you earn. It's a gift God offers to anyone who will receive it by faith.

If you'd like to talk this through with someone, Pastor Smith would be glad to sit down with you, answer your questions, and open the Bible with you. No pressure, ever.

I'd like to talk with someone
  1. Everyone has sinned

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

    Romans 3:23

  2. Sin has a price

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

    Romans 6:23

  3. Jesus paid it for you

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

    Romans 5:8

  4. Receive Him by faith

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

    Romans 10:13

Step two

Baptism: telling the world you belong to Christ

Baptism doesn't save you. It's a picture of what Jesus already did for you: His death, burial, and resurrection. We baptize believers by immersion, usually during a regular service, with the whole church family cheering you on.

  • A short conversation with Pastor Smith first, to make sure you understand the gospel and baptism.
  • We provide a baptism robe and towel. Just bring a change of clothes.
  • Invite your family and friends. It's a day to celebrate.
"Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."Romans 6:4

Step three

Make Tomah Baptist your church home

Membership is how you commit to a local church family, and how we commit to care for you. It starts with a relaxed new members' class where you'll get to know Pastor Smith and other new members.

  1. Class

    New members' class

What we believe, how the church works, and how you can get involved. Bring your questions.

  2. Conversation

    Meet with the pastor

A short visit to hear your testimony of salvation and talk about baptism if you haven't been.

  3. Welcome

    Join the church family

You'll be welcomed into membership during a service, and we'll help you find a place to connect.

Step four

Find a place to serve

Serving is one of the fastest ways to feel at home. Here are a few places people often start.

  • Greeters & welcome centerBe the first friendly face guests see.
  • Children & nurseryTeach, assist, or care for little ones.
  • Van ministryHelp bring neighbors to church each week.
  • SoulwinningShare the gospel door to door in Tomah.
  • MusicChoir, special music, and instruments.
  • Food pantryStock shelves and serve neighbors in need.
